A youth media and workforce development program built around radio, podcasting, video production, digital storytelling, media literacy, and real career exposure — giving students a safe space after school and a real foothold in the media industry.
Students learn to analyze media messages, identify bias, and become responsible consumers of information in today's digital landscape.
Hands-on training in radio, podcasting, and video production gives students a real portfolio, not just a certificate.
A structured, supervised afterschool environment that keeps students engaged, supported, and away from exposure to violence.
Direct exposure to career paths in the media industry — radio broadcasting, podcast production, and content creation — through mentors who work in it.
Students learn radio production techniques, operate broadcast equipment, and produce their own live and recorded radio shows.
From concept to release — students develop podcast ideas, conduct interviews, and edit their own episodes for distribution.
Video production, scriptwriting, and editing fundamentals, using industry-standard tools students will see again in the workforce.
Guest lectures and structured workshops build the critical thinking skills students need to navigate media responsibly.
Media literacy skills are declining nationally, leaving young people vulnerable to misinformation and manipulation. Many high school students lack access to safe, creative outlets — and cities like Philadelphia continue to see high rates of youth violence. The Media Academy is built to answer all three at once: a safe space, a creative outlet, and a real skill set.
We collaborate with local schools, media outlets, and community organizations for guest lectures, mentorship, and internship placements — and recruit volunteers from the media industry to share professional expertise directly with students.
